This Crash Diet From The Seventies Proves People Were Absolutely Crazy Back In The Day

Recently, a clip from a very old issue of Vogue Magazine has been going viral online due to a pretty outrageous diet suggestion for readers. Not only does it make keto and every other crash diet seem “safe” and “easy” but it also looks like someone could probably die from it.

The “Wine and Eggs” diet is a 3-day experiment to lose “5 pounds.”

Breakfast: 1 hardboiled egg, 1 glass of white wine (dry, preferably Chablis), black coffee

Lunch: 2 eggs (hardboiled is best, poached if necessary), 2 glasses of white wine, black coffee

Dinner: 5 oz steak, grilled with black pepper and lemon juice, remainder of white wine (one bottle allowed per day), black coffee

According to The Sun, the diet was conceived by former Cosmo editor Helen Gurley Brown, who claimed it would make you feel “sexy, exuberant and full of the joie de vivre.”

Not going to lie—it sounds like an adventure. Would you try?
