Many women know that most beauty products say “test in a small spot before using.” And, if you’re like me, most women ignore the directions they give us on the box/bottle. But, it seems as though testing products may save your life and prevent you from undergoing a horrible allergic reaciton—like this teen.
Estelle, 19, from France, told Le Parisien, that she had tried to go from blonde to brunette with para-phenylenediamine (PPD)-based dye. The dye took normally. But, two days after applying the dye, her head began to swell.
Estelle went to a pharmacist, who told her to take antihistamines and gave her some cream for the itching on her scalp. But, her condition worsened and the circumference of her head had grown to 25 inches (63 centimeters).
Estelle ended up in the hospital and needed steroid treatment to prevent any further damage and reaction—but, the situation was scary nonetheless.
